Terms of Service
The terms you use KazMaps under: what we promise, what we ask in return, and how either side can walk away.
In short
The service is free for personal use
Some business features may be paid; their terms live in a contract, not in this document.
Your account is yours and is not transferable
You are responsible for access to it. We never ask for your password or verification codes — not by message, not by phone.
The map does not replace traffic rules
Routes, travel times and traffic data are a suggestion; the decision is yours. Conditions on the ground may differ from the map.
The map is not for bulk export
Viewing and using it — yes; mass-downloading the data or building your own products on it — no, that is what a separate contract is for.
You can leave at any time
Deleting your account requires no explanation and carries no conditions.
What this document covers§
These terms govern the use of KazMaps services: the mobile apps, the website and the business web console. By using the service you accept these terms; if you do not accept them, do not use the service.
Processing of personal data is described in a separate document — the Privacy Policy, which forms an integral part of these terms.
Account§
Some features require an account. By registering one you confirm that the contact details you provide belong to you and that you are at least 16 years old — more on age in the Privacy Policy.
An account is personal. Do not share access with third parties: actions taken under your account are treated as yours.
We never ask for your password or a verification code — not by message, not by phone, not in a messenger. Any such request is an attempt to deceive you, whoever the sender claims to be.
Acceptable use§
While using the service you undertake not to:
- collect data about other users by automated means;
- bulk-export service data — see Intellectual property for details;
- circumvent rate limits or other technical protections;
- interfere with the operation of the service, including distributing malicious code through it;
- impersonate another person or organisation;
- publish knowingly false information about places on the map;
- use the service for activity that breaks the law of the Republic of Kazakhstan.
On finding people by phone number specifically: the feature exists so you can find people you already know, not so you can check numbers that are not yours. Lookups are logged, and both their rate and volume are capped.
Intellectual property§
The maps, the business directory, routes, program code and the design of the service belong to us or to our licensors and are protected by intellectual property law. Data in particular map layers may belong to third parties; source attributions are given within the service.
We grant you the right to use these materials within the service itself and for personal purposes. That right does not include:
- bulk data extraction — scraping, automated downloading, or harvesting data around the interfaces provided for it;
- building your own maps, directories or other datasets on top of our data;
- reselling or redistributing service data, including inside other products.
Commercial use of the data is a matter for a separate contract — see Business and API.
Content you add§
Reviews, photos and other material remain yours. By posting them you grant us a free-of-charge, non-exclusive right to use them within the service: to show them to other users, to store them, and to change their size and format for display.
Edits to places on the map are a separate matter: they become part of the map itself, which everyone uses, and are therefore governed by the Contributor Agreement rather than by this document. You may submit edits from the age of 18 — the Contributor Agreement requires it, and that threshold is higher than for an ordinary account.
You are responsible for what you post: material must not break the law or the rights of other people — including disclosing someone else's personal data without their consent.
What happens to your material when the account is deleted is described in the data deletion instructions.
Moderation and complaints§
Published material is checked — automatically, and manually in disputed cases. We may hide or remove material that breaches these terms or the law, and restrict posting after repeated violations.
If you see inaccurate information on the map, an abusive review, or someone else's personal data — tell us: via the report function next to the material, or by writing to privacy@kazmaps.kz. We consider complaints on the merits; the author of hidden material learns the reason and may contest the decision by writing back.
Map data§
Maps, routes, estimated travel times and traffic information are provided "as is". They draw on sources of varying accuracy and are updated with delay: roadworks, closures and new signs appear on the ground before they appear in the data. Actual conditions may differ from the map — check them, not just the screen.
Service data does not override traffic rules, road signs or markings. The driver makes the decision.
Traffic information and estimated travel times are for reference and are not a promise: they describe what was observed, not a guaranteed future.
Business and API§
Commercial use of the service — programming interfaces, managing business listings, placing advertising — is governed by a separate contract, not by these terms. Until such a contract is concluded, commercial use of the service's data and interfaces is not permitted.
Limitation of liability§
The service is provided without a guarantee of uninterrupted operation. To the extent permitted by law, we are not liable for lost profits or indirect damages arising from the use of, or inability to use, the service.
Material posted by users is the responsibility of the users who posted it; we respond to violations under Moderation and complaints.
Changes to these terms§
We may amend these terms. A new edition is published at the same address with its effective date. We announce material changes separately — in the app or via the contacts you provided.
Termination§
You may stop using the service at any time by deleting your account — see the data deletion instructions.
We may restrict or terminate access where it is used in breach of these terms or of the law.
Governing law§
These terms are governed by the law of the Republic of Kazakhstan. Disputes are resolved under the procedure established by the legislation of the Republic of Kazakhstan.
